The Oxford Mint was originally founded in 871 AD by Alfred the Great.
Triple Unite, Unite and Half Unite coins were struck at the mint from 1642 onwards at The Mint under the auspices of King Charles I at New Inn Hall (today, St Stephens College) in Oxford.
This bar, designed by Britain’s leading coin designer (who also designed the last QEII effigy on UK coins), is a classical interpretation of Great Britain’s age-old symbol of national identity, strength, resilience and unity and takes on greater significance in Post Brexit Britain’s attempt to keep the Union intact.
